ABOUT FEBWE LIBERIA

Federation of Business Women and Entrepreneurs (FEBWE) Liberia is a non-governmental, non-political and non-profit organization focused on advocating, developing, empowering, and promoting women business entrepreneurs and women trade associations in Liberia.  FEBWE Liberia is the Liberia Chapter of ECOWAS/FEBWE. 

ECOWAS/FEBWE was established in July 2009 in Accra, Ghana at ECOWAS Constituent General Assembly as a non-profit, apolitical, and circular regional head organization for Business Women and Entrepreneurs.  The Executive Secretariat is located in Abuja, Nigeria. The objectives of the FEBWE/ ECOWAS is to create a platform for dialogue and action with a view to promoting entrepreneurship among women in West Africa, thus making it possible for them to contribute to the achievements of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) and NEPAD, particularly regional integration of West Africa through; formulation of a support and advocacy policy to; upgrade the skills and capacity of business women and entrepreneurs, and by promoting a favorable business environment for women within ECOWAS. 

 

ECOWAS/FEBWE is open to all National Federations/Associations of Business Women and Entrepreneurs of all ECOWAS member states, practicing in all spheres of economic activity in consonance with the procedures defined in the Federation’s statutes.

OUR OBJECTIVES/GOALS

In keeping with the overall regional objectives, FEBWE Liberia goals are to: 

 

  • ADVOCACY:  Advocate on women business issues in an effort to transform public policy and influencing opinion makers. Monitor the legal and commercial infrastructures and programs created by entities of the Government of Liberia and the ECOWAS Region specifically for women entrepreneurial activities.  Programs and support are being announced, however; there are no status reports on the impact made on women owned businesses.  

 

  • INFORM:  Create a centralized online library of market research, studies, data as a point of reference and benchmark for monitoring and evaluating progress that is beneficial for women businesses. 

 

  • CONNECT:  Organize exchange meetings/visits and virtual events with groups and organizations in Europe, North America, Asia and other regions of Africa in search of joint ventures and partnerships for members of FEBWE. 

 

  • NETWORK:  Create a network of women business owners and women business associations through social and professional in-person and virtual events.

 

  • DEVELOP:  Organize meetings, workshops, conferences, and exhibitions (in-person and virtually)

  • INFLUENCERS (Women Sole Proprietorships, including our Go-Getters: Female Entrepreneurs, Under the age of 35, Registered or Informal)

  • INNOVATORS (Corporations owned by Women (at least 51% ownership)

  • DISRUPTORS (Women Business Member Organizations in Liberia)​

MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA

FEBWE Liberia membership is open to:

  • Women entrepreneurs with a registered business in Liberia, either as a sole proprietor or corporation. 

  • Registered women business associations/organizations in Liberia (membership is recorded in the name of the association)

  • Membership dues are non-refundable.
